Raoul Grüneis was born in Würzburg, Germany, to French / Austrian parents.
After early age piano and violoncello lessons, he deepened his studies in conducting, piano and composition at the HdK Berlin. During this time his great love for the German Lied was supported by such teachers as D. FISCHER-DIESKAU and A. REIMANN.
In his position as accompanist at the HdK, he assisted M° Leonard Slatkin at the RSO Berlin, and has taken further lessons with JERZY MAKSYMIUK.
RAOUL GRÜNEIS was assistant to Maestro D. Runnicles at the Freiburg Opera-house, there he also was Chief-Conductor of the Freiburg Academic-orchestra. Later on he was assistant to Jun Märkl in Mannheim.
As musical assistant he worked at the Bayreuth Festival for conductors such as D. Runnicles and Giuseppe Sinopoli.
M° Grüneis positions were 1. Kapellmeister in Oldenburg and Darmstadt, and till 2009 General Music-Director of the Opera and Philharmonic orchestra of Regensburg.
Guest appearances led him to the Berliner Sinfoniker, the RSO Berlin, the RSO of the Rumanian Broadcasting,the Orchestre de chambre Lausanne, the Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin and many others.
Grüneis conducted many opera productions in Dublin, Graz and Kassel, at the Narodni Divadlo Prague, and Weimar.
In September 2007 he debut at the Staatsoper Stuttgart with “Pelléas et Melisande”.
Raoul Grüneis conducted the Gdansk and Jena Philharmonic Orchestras and debut at the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the national premiere of Die Walküre in Ankara with the Presidential Orchestra. He was immediately re-invited for a series of concerts as well as with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. In coming season he will conduct premiere and repertoire performances at the National Opera of Ankara.
His major foreign activities he undertakes now are in Venezuela. After his spectacular debut with Deborah Voight, he recently conducted a concert performance of Wagner’s “Siegfried” with an international cast and with enormous success. He is now a regular guest with the Orquesta de Venezuela
Future engagements will take M° Grüneis, to Turkey, Venezuela and Germany.
